  • Spring Boot
  • MS SQL Server

Overview

Cotiviti (formerly Verscend Technologies) is a leading provider of healthcare data analytics. Over nearly four years at its Kathmandu engineering centre I led end-to-end development of custom healthcare solutions, defined technical designs for complex systems, and built the dashboards customers used to understand their data.

The challenge

  • Healthcare data is complex, high-volume and sensitive — and customers needed to understand it at an aggregate level, quickly.
  • Moving data between systems risked transition errors that could undermine trust in the analytics.
  • Solutions had to stay dependable through go-live and beyond.

Approach & solution

  • Interactive D3.js dashboards that turn application and healthcare data into aggregate-level visualisations and insights.
  • Technical designs for data migration, planned and validated to minimise errors during transitions.
  • Rigorous testing and continuous improvement before and after every go-live.
  • Close alignment with client requirements throughout end-to-end delivery.
  • Mentoring team members and contributing to succession planning.

Architecture

Source data is migrated and validated into SQL Server, exposed through Spring Boot and Node.js services, and visualised with React and D3.js.

Safer migrations

Technical designs for data migration reduced transition errors by 30%.

Reliability

Testing discipline and go-live support helped keep solutions at 99% uptime.

Mentoring

Coached teammates and supported succession planning while upholding ICT policies.

Results & impact

  • 30% fewer transition errors in data migrations.
  • 99% uptime and smooth go-live support for healthcare solutions.
  • Customers gained aggregate-level insight into their application and healthcare data through interactive dashboards.
  • Solutions delivered in full alignment with client requirements.

Lessons learned

A chart is only as good as the data underneath it. The most valuable visualisation work often starts in the migration scripts and validation checks nobody sees.
